The real estate market is in transition. What responses can a family business provide to these changes?
November 24th
One of the topics at this semester’s ‘Strategies for Global Industries’ course was the real estate market as an industry. As part of it, the students were asked to examine Loffice as a case study: read into our current services and real estate portfolio in relation to the current changes in the market, then bring innovative solutions for our further development. We also organized a Loffice tour for them so they could visit our spaces and learn more on the Loffice vibes in person. After the tour and a Q&A, each team came up with their genuine ideas.

We interviewed István Maklári (Mastercard Advisors, Principal) and Márton Kövesdy (Mastercard Advisors, Associate Managing Consultant) about the cooperation.
Why did you decide to involve Loffice in this project?
“In addition to the good work and personal relationship with the Loffice team, we thought it could be exciting for the students due the uniqueness of Loffice’s business model. Our course - held at Corvinus University under the CEMS program - aims to provide an overview of the operation of the largest, most important industries in the world economy and the trends that shape them. On the one hand, Loffice operates strongly locally, as it is linked to the local real estate, office and labor markets, but on the other hand it is also very much influenced by global trends, such as the spread of teleworking and technological changes or the transformation of large cities. These made it easier for students to relate to the case and make relevant suggestions and apply what they learnt about global trends and their analysis.”
What did you experience about the attitude of the students? Did they enjoy the project?
“The students were enthusiastic about the task, apparently working a lot on the presentations both individual and team levels. Even after a week of stricter COVID measures, dormitory removals and switching to online education, quality presentations were made, which shows a strong commitment. The personal meeting with the Loffice team, and especially the on-site tour at the new Loffice HQ was very interesting and making the case more tangible lifelike for them. And last but not least, they were impressed by the building, so we may have found some future co-workers during the course. ” 😊
Are You satisfied with the students’ ideas?
As the organizers and presenters of the course, we were pleased to see that elements from the analytical methodologies presented to them were reflected in their solutions, and the teams also built on the results of the subtasks issued during the week. Overall, the presentations exceeded the average of the university work - as we expected from a group of CEMS master’s students anyway. We saw some gaps in the detailed elaboration of the ideas, but overall we were really satisfied with the performance of the teams. ”
A big thank you to all the students for the invested energy, you are amazing! ❤️
